God Almighty fills the universe, but He is not easy to find. One man searched through the religions of the world to find God, but could not find Him. He was searching in the wrong places. But in his groping in the darkness to find the Light he opened the Bible and God revealed Himself to that man as its Author.
He had unknowingly fulfilled a requirement for the Lord to reveal Himself to the lost. The Lord said, "Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you." (St. Matthew 7:7)
"Evil men do not understand judgment: but they that SEEK THE LORD understand all things." (Proverbs 28:5) Jesus said, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (St. Matthew 7:ll)
You may not have children yet; but you can discern from his statement that Jesus Christ considers mankind evil.
The world economy runs on money. If there was no paycheck, the factories, the retail stores, the hospitals, the schools, ...would all close.
John the Baptist was a man of God who needed no money, no housing, no human food, and no human clothing. His food was locusts and honey. His only pleasure was giving God pleasure. He was completely free from the materialistic burdens people bear to provide themselves with basic necessities and the luxuries of their pleasure seeking.
In this world, there is essentially the buyer and the seller. If you are employed, you are working for a provider of goods or services. Your employer is purchasing your time and labor to help him produce a product or supply services to sell to the public. When you get paid, you purchase what you want and need from providers of goods and services. Nearly everyone participates in providing goods and services and the purchasing of them.
Let's say you are shopping for a vehicle. Now, you are dealing with the proverbial car salesman who is famous for telling you what you want to hear to get you to make a deal. How much will you pay for the same vehicle someone else just drove off of his lot? Probably as much as the car salesman can squeeze from you. How much service will he promise you? He will tickle your ears with promises, but when you come back with a lemon; you will not find him as joyful or as quick to cooperate as he was when he sold you the vehicle. His fruit of love and joy and peace is "fruit that whithers." (St. Jude l7)
He's happy to take your money, but not so happy to spend money servicing your vehicle. In his example we have a glimpse of human nature.
It would be far worse were you born into a nation where there was not a balance of power.
Much evil is restrained in a well policed society. So even your own evil human nature is hidden from you as well as the evil human nature of others as you go about the business of earning, storing up and spending.
Are those people with whom you are interacting just as nice when buying and selling is not involved? Are you? They're so happy to have you come into their business to purchase their goods or services but do they invite you to their home? If you are a beautiful young woman or a handsome well to do man, you will have many friends where-ever you go, but are they really friends or are they simply responding in a fleshy way to your attractiveness to the lusts of their flesh?
Human nature is evil.
When you think about it, are you surprised God isn't particularly interested in socializing with you? God Almighty is an all powerful, infinitely wise Spirit, holy and pure. You were created from nothing; and were given "the light that lights every man that comes into the world" (St. John l:9) but you will remain darkness by nature until the Light of God's Word shines in you to enlighten you.
We are not talking about the skills you may have developed, but the spiritual light within. Everyone is given enough light to know God exists. By exercising diligence with the light you have; you can find God by seeking Him. Seek God with the understanding you are not a finished work. Even though hyou may be pleased with yourself, with your good looks, your skills, and your successes....God would have you become perfect in all you do.
You may not yet be aware that Jesus Christ is your Creator, but God created all you will ever see in this visible world by his divine Son. "For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him." (Colossians l:l6) "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." (St. John l:3)
It was Jesus Christ, the miraculously born Son of God, who went to the cross to be sacrificed
unto God for your sins and mine. He was the sinless sacrifice. In other words, we could not
purchase ourselves; now "we are not our own, we were bought with a price."
Of course, "broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many they be which go in there'at." (St. Matthew 7:l3) You may want to remain in your sins and not receive the gift of God, but "the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." (Proverbs l:7) "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "Choose this day whom you will serve." (Joshua 25:l4) If you will not serve God whom you cannot see, you will serve Satan whom you cannot see. Why? Your human nature is evil. It is easy for the Devil to rule over you without your perceiving it. In holy Scripture we are told he takes people captive at his will. (Ref. 2 Timothy 2:26)
Many do not know the meaning of the word "sin." "All the ways of man are clean in his own sight," (Proverbs l6:2) so it is easy to remain in spiritual darkness thinking you're just fine as long as you obey the laws of the land. After all, how could God not accept a law abiding citizen into heaven? If you are thinking you are not evil nor a sinner, you are probably not consciously aware of your self. Think about it. Does the whole world seem to be centered around you? Are you not first in your own behalf in everything you do? Isn't every decision you make based on what you are going to get out of it? If the answer to those questions is yes, then you are a sinner. Your motives are evil. You are like the car salesman. Easy to get along with when you're getting your way, but are you just as easy to get along with when you can't have your way? (Proverbs l6:2)
The Apostle Paul wrote in holy Scripture: "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God..." (Romans 3:23) Did you know you would be gloriously clothed with the divine nature of the Spirit of God were you not a sinner. What is the solution? You need to root out every sin. Can you do it in your own strength? No, of course not. Can the zebra change his stripes? Neither can you change your nature with good intentions though you work on yourself day and night. The change begins when you realize God is talking to you through his Word in holy Scripture which is "a Lamp unto our feet." God "recommends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his Life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned:" (Romans 8/l2)
The Word tells us "Death comes as a snare." Are you ready for the Death Angel to come for you?
Where you spend eternity is your responsibility. You may have doubts about one thing or another, but if you seek the truth through holy Scripture; you will find what you need to know. Let's discuss some of the more common excuses sinners like to make to justify their continuing rebellion against God all the days of their lives. Anyone who refuses to come out of the spiritual darkness of human nature is the enemy of God. The most common excuse sinners make is: How can I know the Scriptures were written by God through his servants? If you are diligently searching for truth objectively, you will be enabled to see through the eye of faith; that God deposited the Bible upon the planet earth for people to learn of Him in every major language. The Bible has been the best seller year in and year out ever since the printing press was invented. Why? Because people are searching for God and are discovering the holy Book is God talking to mankind.
Another popular excuse among sinners is: Why should I become a believer in God through Jesus Christ when major Catholic and Prostestant leaders are constantly getting caught in wickedness? They will go to judgment before God based on their obedience or disobedience to Him just like you. Don't worry about them. God is not asking you to follow evildoers.
Well, I don't want to live according to a bunch of do's and don't's. I don't blame you. I'm not interested in obeying a bunch of do's or don't's either, but I will obey the Person of Jesus Christ. He is "the way, the truth and the Life." And why am I committed to obeying Him? I want to become like Him.
Think about it. Can you find any flaw in Him? Consider the Gospels. His whole Life was one of overcoming evil with good.
Well, what do I need to do to be saved? Good for you. Welcome to the family of God worldwide. You are saved "if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heartGod raised him from the dead..." (Romans lO:9) Jesus said: "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." (St. Matthew lO:32/33)
"For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes on Him shall not be shamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: the same Lord over all is rich unto all who call upon him. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans l0:l0/l3)
There are three things you need to do: (1) Believe in Him, (2) Tell others of your belief, (3) and Call upon the name of the Lord with the knowledge God wants to work in your life to be divine in you. Is that all I have to do? Well, you're off to a good start if you're able to take those first three spiritual steps. There is much more to do to attain to the Mount Everest of Perfection Christ in us is.
I'm full of doubts and misgivings. Is that normal? Its so much easier to be of the world. Are you sure its worth it to give my all to God and Christ?
Religious leaders with big names in the Media backslide. But a Saint backslide? Unheard of. Would you like to know why? Once someone becomes one with God through Christ and His Holy Spirit, they find the world vain and empty.
Everyone has to work through the evil of the day.
God Almighty makes sure everyone gets a dose of it. The great Physician dishes out trouble onto our plate daily with greater skill than we humanly see.
The Potter knows how to shape human clay on the spinning wheel of His divine Creativity.
Commit to a private time of devotions in the Word of God regularly and let God teach you through his Word and Spirit.
As faith grows, the obedient grow spiritually according to how much obedience they sow in the harvest field of their own life.
"This is the record, that God has given to us eternal Life, and this Life is in his Son. He who has the Son has Life; and he who has not the Son of God has not Life."
These things have I written unto you who believe on the name of the Son of God; so you may know you have eternal Life, that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence we have in Him, if we ask anything according to his will, He hears us. And if we know He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know we have the petitions we desired of Him." (1 John 5:11/15)
Should I shop around for a good Church? Good question. You do need to assemble together (Hebrews 1O:25) with other believers and separate yourself from sinners, but there is no such thing as a good Church. What???
Jesus said there is none good but the Father in heaven when someone called him good Master. If He who did not sin ought not to be called good, you ought not to think of God's sinful people as good. Joining some already imperfect and corrupted congregation puffed up with themselves is not going to promote your spiritual advancement into the spiritual state of Perfection hid in Christ!
You are a believer and it is important for you to decide how much of a committment you are making for the sake of your own soul. If you want to remain secular, all of the commands still ought to be applied to your lifestyle. You have just as much a full time responsibility to love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength as a fully committed Saint.
Most of the Christians and Catholics in the world today have said in their hearts they will serve God Almighty their Creator when it is convenient for them. "Oh really," saith the LORD God. "I will give you salvation and let you live on into the next Age if it is convenient for Me."
The Apostle Paul said in an end of the world context, there would be a "falling away" from the faith by those who presume they are saved.
The commitment you decide upon should be total. Anything less is an invitation to disaster. "LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART..." says it all.
But I have a business to run and family responsibilities. Yes, God knows your plate is full, yet the spiritual dimension of Life is superimposed upon the materialistic dimension of life; so He knows He is...A Perfect Fit.
Open the door to your heart fully and the Lord will come in and dine with you and you will will know He is there with you even when you don't see Him visually. Its a spiritual journey of faith.
You can go to work now with your present God consciousness and seek His Perfect Will in all you do, and when you seek Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, you will find Him.
Am I saved no matter what I do?
No, I wish it were easy, though many might pat you on your back and tell you, it was all taken care of when Christ suffered for us on the cross.
Jesus teaches, "He who shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." (St Matthew 24:13)
The Revelator quoted Jesus as saying, "He who overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my Son." (Revelation 2l:7)
The Apostle Paul wrote, saying: "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:l2)
No-one else is going to do it for you.
If you do your part, God will do his part to make you spiritually perfect like the divine Person of Jesus Christ and you may even get to rule and reign with Him if you are Super'Blessed. "I am "confident of this very thing, He which began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6)
