If you fear a thunderous lightning storm when you are in the midst of it, you are normal. How much more should you fear and reverence God Almighty if you understand his voice is in the thunder (2 Samuel 22:4) and he aims his lightning bolts with deadly accuracy (Zechariah 9:14).

Jeremiah the Prophet supplies the scientific insight into how God does it by saying, "HE MAKES LIGHTENINGS WITH RAIN..." (Jeremiah the Prophet 10:13) The Lord uses the conductivity of the rain and its density to explode his lightenings and direct them to their targets. There are no accidents in God's universe. If lightning strikes near you, perhaps its a post card from the Lord.

We find more in the writings of another Prophet: "THE CLOUDS POURED OUT WATER: THE SKIES SENT OUT A SOUND: YOUR ARROWS ALSO WENT ABROAD. THE VOICE OF YOUR THUNDER WAS IN THE HEAVEN: THE LIGHTNINGS LIGHTENED THE WORLD: THE EARTH TREMBLED AND SHOOK." (Pslams 77:17/18) Every lightning bolt is aimed.

In the battle of Armageddon the Lord sends "OUT HIS ARROWS AND SCATTERED THEM; AND HE SHOT OUT LIGHTNINGS AND DISCOMFITED THEM." (Psalm 18:9/14) If the Resurrected are watching closely, this will be made known in the sky.

God does not let anything take place randomly in all creation. He is the Prime Mover. He "QUICKENS ALL THINGS." No accident is possible with him at the helm. God drives his Universe forward into time with Perfection far beyond our comprehension.

God knows who he is irregardless of whether we are mindful of his great power or not. He asked the holy man Job near the end of his trials.

"CAN YOU SEND LIGHTNINGS THAT THEY MAY GO, AND SAY UNTO YOU, "HERE WE ARE." (Job 38:35) The Lord asked the holy man Job when he reproved him.

"THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM." It is not wise to walk in lightning storms. Why should you tempt the Lord.

Martin Luther was so frightened in a field after a thunderbolt knocked him down and killed his companion, cried out that he would go into a monastery and serve the LORD if his life was spared. He kept his word even though his father who had paid for his education in law was enraged by his decision.

This is a monument to that event, re-discovered in Stotterheim, East Germany after the Berlin Wall was torn down. "Wendepunket der Reformation" means "Turning point of the Reformation" and "jungen Luther" is a reference to "young Luther" in German.

In this photograph, we see a man who was struck by lightning and survived by the grace of God. God has many tools in his tool box.

Perhaps, to let the world know the Lord is mindful of the 130 foot tall statue of himself, the Lord aimed one of his lightning bolts at the same time someone's camera clicked a photograph of it. The 700 ton statue situated on the 2,296ft Corcovado mountain overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is visible to many for a great distance away.

When you look at the photograph with the statue of Jesus lit up on the top of the mountain, you have a symbolic view of the Lord connected to God the Father in heaven. Was there a message there? You decide.
