The churches in America teach grace is unmerited favor, but actually it is merited. God gives grace unto the lowly. (Proverbs 3:34) But "he resists the proud" and "he scorns the scorner."

In Genesis chapter six we hear of that righteous Prophet Noah finding grace in the sight of the LORD when God decided to destroy the corrupt and violent population of the world at that time.

Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. So God gave him instructions for the building the Ark and when he flooded the earth with a deadly flood, Noah and his family escaped in the Ark.

"Grace" with God is not a small matter, Grace can make the difference between your life and death.

And Gideon said unto the Lord who was sending him to defeat the Medianites singlehandedly, "If now I have found grace in thy sight, then show me a sign that you talk with me." (Judges 6:17)

Then Gideon brought food for the angel of the Lord and set it down before him on a rock.

"The angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight." (Judges 6:21)

Gideon had found grace in the sight of the Lord, and if you listen to just how lowly his protestings were when the Lord told him he was to go and defeat the Midianites, you would understand he was lowly. Gideon was not proud or arrogant or self centered.

And so it was he was enabled by the Spirit of the Lord to accomplish his mission miraculously with the Midianite army destroying their own selves in the night Gideon frightened them in the middle of the night from the mountaintops.

Obtaining grace from God can be a very valuable acquisition.

Grace is a special quality from God to man, but grace is also a special quality God gives man for mankind and so it was written of King David: "Thou art fairer than the children of men: GRACE IS POURED INTO YOUR LIPS: therefore God has blessed you for ever." (Psalm 45:2)

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." (Psalm 84:11) When you meet the conditions of the promise by walking uprightly, the LORD will give you grace and glory.

Grace is not unmerited favor. Grace is merited favor. Just the opposite of what religious leaders in America are teaching the people of God.
