GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT: |
COMMENTS |
NOW CONCERNING SPIRITUAL GIFTS, BRETHREN, I WOULD NOT HAVE YOU IGNORANT." (l Corinthians l2:l) | The Apostle Paul would not have the churches ignorant of the gifts of the Spirit, however nearly two thousand years has passed since he led many to the Lord in supernatural power with signs and wonders manifest. The churches in the world have become caught up in the darkness of religious dogma rather than the truth that will set you free. Many believers are driven by a need for acceptance to make a show of their idea of a spiritual gift. Many presume to speak in tongues who do not have the gift of tongues. Many give words of knowledge without the gift of the word of knowledge. The gifts of the Spirit do not operate outside of the Spirit. So the churches of America ought not to allow congregational members to practice the gifts seeing church gatherings have degenerated into religious services where the emphasis is not on seeking the LORD with all the heart, soul, mind and strength to enter into the Spirit. The early Church had many Saints among them who labored as living sacrifices, building up gifts of the Spirit during the week. In that Light, they brought gifts of the Spirit into the Church. There are very few Saints in the world today. It is better for the Churches to leave off presuming upon the gifts of the Spirit. It is a practice that puffs up many into believing they are spiritual. "Whoso boasts himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain." (Proverbs 25:l4) |
"THERE ARE DIVERSITIES OF GIFTS...." (l Corinthians l2:4) | The gifts of the Spirit are not all listed in the Bible. Elijah's gift of the Spirit for bringing fire down from heaven is a one of a kind gift. There is no reason to list it. King David invented musical instruments in the anointing of the Spirit. (Nehemiah l2:36) He sang in the beauties of holiness to King Saul and drove his demons away. (l Samuel l6:l4/23) The Apostle Paul revealed the gift of discerning spirits when he turned and cast out the spirit of divination from her. (Acts l6:l6/l8) When Christ gave his disciples "power and authority over all devils," it was a gift of the Spirit. (St. Luke 9:l) There is a lot of casting out of demons in the churches that are not demons. There are diversities of gifts. The Spirit of the Lord can do all things through a dead to self disciple in the anointing. Sampson's ability to fight is a gift of the Spirit. It is not for you to choose what power or gift the Lord will work through you. Your duty is to obey what God shows you to do, and to grow up into Christ by living an increasingly devout life. The Spirit of the Lord manifests spiritual power to "every man severally as he will(s)." (l Corinthians l2:ll) |
"FOLLOW AFTER CHARITY, AND DESIRE SPIRITUAL GIFTS, BUT RATHER THAT YOU MAY PROPHESY." (l Corinthians l4;l) | Love of neighbor is foremost, for without the love of God moving faith in us; we become "clanging cymbols." Spiritual gifts are to be desired but to prophesy is the most valuable of all gifts to God's people. So it is the Apostle Paul emphasizes it. |
